She was the daughter of the late Luther and Amanda Lininger, who many years ago operated the Castle Lininger, just across the Yough River from Confluence. She was the youngest of a family of nine children. She attended the High School here. After her father's death in 1910 she and her mother went to Dayton, Ohio, to reside with her brothers-in-law and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Reigel and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mitchell. Soon afterwards they were joined at Dayton by another brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Trentle, and when later the Reigels and Mitchells moved to Detroit, Mich., Grace and her mother remained with the Trentles at Dayton. Being a graduate of Duff's Business College in Pittsburgh, Grace was able to secure a position as secretary to the vice president of the Traler Company's large department store in Dayton, where she was employed for nine years. Later she went to Columbus, Ohio, where she had charge of the jewelry department of a large store there for three years. After her mother's death in 1926 Grace went to Detroit, Mich., to reside with her sisters, Alice Reigel and Margaret Mitchell and where she was an employee of the Williams stores for several years. Just recently she went to Dayton to visit her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Trentle. Becoming very ill on Thursday, November 26, she was hastily removed to the hospital and on Friday underwent the operation. Never very robust but rather frail all through life she was unable to survive the operation and while everything was done to save her life she passed away on Monday. Her sister, Mrs. Trentle, and her niece, Mrs. Genevive Marshall, a trained nurse, where at her bedside until the last. Besides her sisters above mentioned she is survived by a brother, Dick Lininger of Detroit. Mrs. Laura McDonald of Confluence and Mrs. Ida Hetrick of Addison are aunts. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, as follows: Dr. George Lininger; Clarence Lininger and Thomas F. Lininger and Lucy Lininger. Burial took place at Dayton, Ohio. Meyersdale Republican, December 10, 1942
