Lint, 84, died July 1 in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he lived since 1967. Born March 21, 1892, in Davis, West Virginia, he was a son of Harry H. Lint and Rose Shipley of Meyersdale. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Mary (Rohrbaugh) Baltimore and Hanover, Pa. and Lucille (Thornley) of Connellsville. His father, Harry, ran a store in Meyersdale for many years. William worked at the old Shaw Coal mine in 1904 for Walter Shunk of Meyersdale. In 1910 he went to the fields of Kentucky with Jack Price of Meyersdale who later was a vice president of Inland Steel at Wheelwright, Ky., and has a town of Price, Ky., named after him. William helped build Lynch, Ky., Harlan County, when U.S. Steel first opened it up. He was assistant superintendent at Lynch, Ky., until 1929 when he went to Mary Helen Coal Corp. in Harlan until his retirement in 1957 where he served as superintendent for 28 years. He is survived by his wife, Rube F. Lint, of Daytona Beach, Fla., and one son, William R. Lint, Jr., of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Meyersdale Republican, July 15, 1976 [L0971]
