All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ FREDERICK LIVENGOOD Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, Dec. 30, at 2:00 o'clock at the Livengood Tourist Home, Grantsville, for Frederick Livengood, water commissioner for Grantsville. He was the son of the late Christian M. and Jennie Uriah Livengood and husband of Mrs. Mary (Broadwater) Livengood, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gilead Broadwater. He is survived by his wife and one son, Paul Livengood of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, John Livengood of Detroit, Mich., and two grandchildren, Brenda, and Paul Frederick Livengood. Rev. George K. Ely, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church near Salisbury, Pa., and Rev. Samuel E. Lobach of Greensburg, Pa., a former pastor of St. Paul's charge, officiated at the service. Rev. Lobach read from the following scriptures: The 23rd Psalm, John 14th Chapter, the Beatitudes of Matthew V, and the book of Revelations. Prayer by Rev. Ely followed and the Springs Men's ministerial quartet sang, "Mansions in the Sky" and "Come, Ye Disconsolate." Rev. Lobach paid high tribute to Frederick Livengood in his sermon. The text was, "Well done, Thou good and faithful servant, Enter into the joys of thy Lord." In conclusion he said that Mr. Livengood's life was a fine account of stewardship, and read a poem entitled "Thy Will Be Done." Rev. Ely took as his text: "It is not death to die." He read appropriate scriptures and recited poetry. The service was impressive and the flowered pieces expressed the high esteem of his many friends. He was a lover of flowers. The casket bearers were C. O. Bender, Harvey Gortner, John Hershberger, B. H. Bender, George Diefenbach and Harold Miller. Interment was in the Grantsville cemetery. Friends from a distance who visited the bereaved home and attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Livengood and children, Alexandria, Va.; John W.
