Jr. November 2006 Daily American Robert B. Locklin Jr., 72, Chincoteague, Va., formerly of Somerset, died Nov. 22, 2006, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, as a result of complications of acute liver disease. Bob was born in Pittsburgh on July 11, 1934. He is preceded in death by first wife Shirley in 1990; and parents, Robert B. Sr. and Henriette Locklin. He is survived by wife, Sally; siblings, Margaret Groninger, Jane Reimers, Ralph Locklin and John Locklin; children, Tom Locklin, Jane Rowlands, Carol Ogle, Ann Mathias, Chip Romesberg, Melinda Hochard and Matt Romesberg; and 13 grandchildren. He moved with his family to Champion in 1980 "to get out of suburbia" and to be closer to nature and their love of skiing and to Chincoteague, Va., in 2003, where he and his wife Sally marveled at the abundance of Eastern shore wildlife and welcomed visits from friends and family. Bob served overseas in the U.S. Army in intelligence. When he returned to the states, he attended Carnegie Mellon University and Duquesne University and received an M.A. in music composition. A former school teacher in Bethel Park and founder of The Bob Locklin Singers in Pittsburgh, Bob's professional life was dedicated to music and arts education. He was the former executive director of Laurel Arts Inc. and director of The Roof Garden Chorus in Somerset, where he also owned Locklin's Gourmet restaurant. After retirement, he continued working as a consultant with the Pa. Rural Arts Alliance and the Pa. Council on the Arts. His personal life was dedicated to family, especially his beloved grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Dec. 10 at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Somerset. The Rev. Keith Fink officiating.
