He was born in Garrett County, Maryland, and at the age of 18, after both his parents had died, he, with six of his brothers and sisters, located at Springs, Pa. Here he nobly played the part of an elder brother by contributing practically all of his earnings for the support of his younger brothers and sisters. On January 12, 1919, he was married to Ruth Peck, daughter of Jonas Peck of Maple Glen. He is survived by his wife and three young daughters. One son, about three years old, preceded him in death, as did an older brother, Daniel. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters, also: Mary Lohr, of Springs; Mrs. H. A. Schaefer, Grantsville; Fred Lohr and Mrs. Ernest Miller, Lancaster; Mrs. Homer Durst, Salisbury; Charles Lohr, Turtle Creek; Mrs. D. L. Miller, Springs, and Walter Lohr, who is in the Navy with the Special Service Squadron. The funeral was held in the Springs Mennonite Church on Saturday, December 26. Rev. Guy E. Wampler of Salisbury, assisted by Rev. G. D. Miller, conducted the services. Mr. Lohr died a young man, but his experience in the cares and sorrows of life was beyond many of twice his age. Both his parents died before they reached the period of middle life; his wife had several surgical operations, but the saddest experience of his life came when his little boy, to whom he was devoutedly attached, died after a brief illness. He was kind and industrious, of genial disposition, always greeting people with a smile - a man with no enemies. Meyersdale Republican, January 7, 1932
