Born Oct. 28, 1915, in Shade Twp., son of Luther and Clara (Crum) Lohr. Preceded in death by parents, infant daughter, Paula, brothers: Clark, Jesse and Horace, sisters: Gladys Lambert and Alice Crum. Survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Betty Lohr, children: Lon, married to the former Gladys Brant, Stoystown; Scott, married to the former Christine Sotosky, Hooversville; and Marcia, Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren: Gina, Brad and Jodi Lohr, Lisa Hoyman and Tracy Knecht; great grandchildren: Cody Hoyman and Nathan Knecht; sisters: Ada Lentz, Indiana, and Hazel Powell, Somerset. World War II Navy veteran. Retired from Carpenters Union Local 1590. Former employee of Deaner Funeral Homes. Member of Grace Lutheran Church, Stoystown. Life member and past commander of Stoystown American Legion Post 257. Life member of Somerset VFW Post 554 and Jenner Rod and Gun Club. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Walter L. Startzel officiating.
