Born Sept. 26, 1922, in Jenner Township. Son of Richard F. and Elsie M. (Bowman) Lohr. Preceded in death by parents; and sisters, Sarah Shaffer, Nannie Cora Rhoads, Evelyn Friedline and Bessie Gray. Survived by wife of 61 1/2 years, the former Ruth E. Emerick; children, Greg, married to Gloria Turner, Jenner Township; Carolyn, married to Carl Sanner, Somerset; and Kennith, married to Debra MacDonald, Jenner Township; grandsons, Mark Lohr and Brian Sanner; and brothers, R. Louis married Ethel Thompson, Fishertown; and David L., Friedens. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Life-long member of Zion-Hoffman Evangelical Lutheran Church and the National Brown Swiss Dairy Association. Served on the church cemetery board and council for many years. Also member of the VFW and NRA. A 1941 graduate of the former Boswell High School. Naval veteran of World War II, having served in numerous battles in the Pacific theater on the U.S.S. Minneapolis. Recipient of the Philippines Liberation Ribbon (two stars), the Pacific Ribbon (four stars), the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Third generation owner/operator of the family dairy farm, now operated by son Kennith. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Allegheny Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until the time of service 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion-Hoffman Church. The Rev. Kathleen A. Kuehl officiating.
