Lohr Sr., 105, (Golf Course Road), Stoystown RD 1, died March 24, 1997, at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born April 23, 1891, in Hooversville, son of Noah and Annie (Metzger) Lohr. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Parnel Eichelberger on Nov. 1, 1976; infant son, Earl C.; son, Milton G. Jr.; daughters: Lois Young and Frances Rhoads; daughter-in-law, Ethel (Turney) Lohr; sister, Mary Shaffer, and brother, Elmer. Survived by sons: Paul H., married to Jean Shortt, Meyersdale RD3; Donald L., married to Dawna Grimm, Columbia, Pa.; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Also survived by daughter-in-law, Sarah (Barndt) Lohr, Stoystown RD 1; sons-in-law: Clarence Rhoads, Stoystown RD 1, and Wayne Young, Martinsburg, Pa.; two cousins: Margaret Bassett and Elizabeth Baker, both of Johnstown. Member of Hooversville church of the Brethren since 1904, where he served as Sunday School superintendent for many years. Also attended the Hopewell United Methodist Church, Hollsopple RD 1, in recent years. Timekeeper at the former Lorain Steel Works, Johnstown, and Quemahoning Township farmer, retiring in 1948. Served on the A.S.C. Committee and the former Quemahoning Township School Board. Also taught school in Quemahoning Township for several years. Well-known beekeeper for over 70 years. Involved in the Heifer Project International, delivering cattle to Poland in 1945. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and until 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hooversville Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. William Davis, the Rev. Harry Bassett and the Rev. Douglas Diamond officiating. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown. Memorials to the Hooversville Church of the Brethren Building Fund or to the Heifer Project International in care of the Hooversville Church of the Brethren would be appreciated.
