Long, 88, of Friedens RD 1, died Nov. 17, 1986, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Aug. 27, 1898, in Quemahoning Township, daughter of the late Calvin and Minnie (Lease) Long. Also preceded in death by sister, Verda P. Long. She was a sister of: Alma Long and J. Chester, married to the former Thelma Knepper, both of Friedens RD 1; Mrs. Nancy Pfrogner, Frostburg, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church and L.C.W. She was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a former Somerset school district teacher for 40 years, and she was the first teacher from the area to receive the Freedom Foundation Award for good citizenship. She was a charter member and past president of Alpha Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, and member of Third Society of Farm Women. Family received friends Tuesday and will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Body will lie in state at Friedens Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. on Thursday with the Rev. James R. Ling and her nephew, the Rev. Joseph D. Long officiating.
