Long, 86, of Meyersdale, died Feb. 5, 2000, at her home. Born Sept. 7, 1913, in Meyersdale, a daughter of the late Howard and Ethel (Thompson) Miller. Also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Miller, and an infant sister, Bernice. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Carrie was born, raised and died on Friendship Farm in Summit Township. Survived by her husband of 54 years, William J. "Bill" Long; and three daughters: Virginia, wife of David R. Hay, Somerset; Carolyn "Susie," wife of Herb Long, Meyersdale; and Barbara, wife of Tom Long, Meyersdale; also four grandchildren: Chad, Todd Christina and Carrie. A devoted member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, where she served on the deacon board and was a member of the women's fellowship. She was a former choir member and a Sunday School teacher. Carrie also enjoyed quilting as was a member of the 5th Society of Farm Women. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today (Monday) at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Emory F. Scholl officiating. Viewing 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment, Union Cemetery, Meyersdale. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren Friends of Compassion. Daily American, February 7, 2000 [L1245]
