Born Dec. 27, 1925, in Johnstown, a son of Ralph Milton Sr. and Olive Mae (Barron) Long. Preceded in death by parents; son, Randy Craig Long; and a brother, Richard Milton Long. Survived by his wife, the former Martha Alice Brant, to whom he was married 59 years; children, Roger Long, married to the former Roberta L. Korns, Orlando, Fla.; Sharon, married to Terry Beck, Lancaster County; Vickie, married to the Rev. Dr. Joseph Beer, Sipesville; Marsha, married to the Rev. Jeffrey Welsh, Scottsdale; Mark Long, married to the former Connie Miller, Somerset; grandchildren, Andrew Craig Welsh and wife, Aleasha; Zachary Charles Welsh; Brandon Samuel Beck and wife, Jenna; Michael Joseph Beer; and Stephanie Lynn Beer; sisters, Mrs. Martha Gilbert, Somerset; Mrs. Sara Jane Smith, Somerset; and Mrs. Shelby Rhodes, Acme; and a brother, Ralph Milton Long Jr., married to the former Brenda Barndt, Mechanicsburg. He is a 1943 graduate of Somerset Township High School. He is a decorated World War II U.S. Army Veteran. Had worked as a foreman for the Daily American and later was owner and operator of Charles W. Long Printing, retiring in 2003, working as a printer for 57 years. He had also owned Boswell News. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and United Methodist Men, a life-time member of Somerset Volunteer Fire Dept., VFW Post 554. He was a volunteer at Somerset Hospital and was an avid reader, gardener and fisherman. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be con-ducted at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Dr. Joseph Beer, the Rev. Jeffrey Welsh and the Rev. Raymond Lyon officiating. Interment will be at Husband Cemetery. Military Graveside Rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
