Long, 79, of Friedens RD 2, died April 7, 1985, at Miners Hospital, Spangler. Born March 31, 1906, in Stonycreek Township, son of the late John and Edith (Shelley) Long. Preceded in death by a daughter, Betty and an infant daughter. Survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Mabel Hemminger, two children: Pauline Koontz of Jenners; and William Long of Rockwood; five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three brothers, Howard of Wadsworth, Ohio; Merle of Friedens RD 1; and Guy of Berlin RD 1. A retired electrician from U.S. Steel, Johnstown Works; U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Panama Canal Zone; former member of the Stoystown Lions Club; member of Friedens Lutheran Church. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home. Funeral service Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Friedens Lutheran Church, the Rev. James Ling and the Rev.
