Long, 80, of Mechanicsburg died Dec. 19, 1996, in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township. He was a retired Superintendent of Mails for the U.S. Postal Service in Somerset. He also worked as a carpenter in Reidsville, N.C., and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Born April 28, 1916, in Milford, to Merle and Florence Pyle Long. Member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Reidsville, N.C., and the First United Methodist Church, Somerset, where he served as a trustee. Also a member of the IOOF of Somerset. Survived by his wife, Maude Kate Kelly Long; a son, Rev. N. Lynn Long, Lombard, Ill; two daughters: Elaine L. Judson, Camp Hill and Hope N. Tauch, McMurray; a sister, Esther Mugridge, Mesa, Ariz.; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in His Church, Mechanicsburg, where a funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday in St. John's Cemetery, Somerset. Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Citizen Fund of His Church, 800 S.
