Long, 78, one of the leading citizens of Berlin, died at his home on Main St. Tuesday Nov. 4, after a lingering illness of several months. Mr. Long was a son of the late Chauncey and Sarah (Crosby) Long and was born in Berlin, October 6th, 1869. His first wife, Mrs. Flora Walker Long, preceded him in death. He is survived by his second wife, Mrs. Hilda Bender Long, and by two sons, Dr. Merle E. Long and Wilbert Long, both of Oak Park, Ill.; also by four grandchildren. He was a director of Philson National Bank, a retired cigar maker, and a former member of Borough Council. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Johnson & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert M. Nagle officiating. Interment in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Berlin.
