Born Dec. 4, 1910, in Stonycreek Township, Somerset County. Son of the late John T. and Edith Ann (Shelley) Long. Also preceded in death by wife, Nellie Grace (Kimmel) Long on Oct. 16, 1991; daughter, Janet Rice and brothers, Howard and Dwight Long. Survived by these children: Ms. Charlotte J. Spangler, Johnstown; Ms. Thelma K. Long, Arendtsville, and David J. Long, married to the former Diann Lambert, Meyersdale RD 4; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Brother of Merle S. Long, Friedens RD 1. Retired truck driver for the former Cooper-Jarrett Trucking Co. Retired in 1975 with 25 years of service. Member of Somerset Aerie 1801, FOE and Local 261, International Brotherhood of the Teamsters. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Melvin A. Kirk officiating.
