Long, 87, of Somerset RD 7, formerly of Berlin RD 4, died March 20, 1994 at Somerset Hospital. Born Aug. 9, 1906 in Somerset Township, the son of the late Luther Clarence and Jessie Grace (Putnam) Long. Preceded in death by wife, the former Mary Mazer, one brother, Clyde Long, and one sister, Carolyn I. Shaver. Survived by these brothers Dean S. Long of Modesta, Calif.; Willard V. Long of Somerset, Hubert E. Long of Millers Creek, N.C., and a number of nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Thomas (Ann) Hill of Friedens RD 1, James E. Long of Berlin RD 4, and Mrs. Samuel (Reba) Caton of Stoystown. Retired caseworker for the Pa. Department of Public Welfare and a 1924 graduate of Somerset Township High School. Member of Faith Lutheran Church of Wills, and a member of Hillcrest Grange since 1922. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, and from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church, the Rev. Lloyd T. Wilson officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Hillcrest Grange service will be held at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
