Born April 11, 1904 in Stonycreek Township, son of the late John Thomas and Edith Ann (Shelley) Long. Preceded in death by brothers: Howard, Dwight and Guy Long. Survived by wife, the former Nannie Elverna Landis to whom he was married 68 years; daughter, Dorothy Louise Long, Davidsville; grandson, Joseph G. Thrash, married to the former Debra Jarvis, Friedens; and twin great-granddaughters: Tamara and Elizabeth Thrash. A 1928 graduate of the Coyne Electrical School of Chicago, Ill. He was a self-employed electrician and had been employed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission from 1964 to 1969. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church, I.O.O.F. of Somerset, and the Stoystown Lions Club. Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset where services will be conducted 1 p.m., Monday. Rev. James R. Ling and Rev. Sherman H. Berkey officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
