Long, 79, of Garrett Short Cut Rd., Garrett, died April 27, 2001 at Windber Hospice. Born March 8, 1922 in Brothersvalley Township. A son of the late Simon C. and Malinda (Brant) Long. Survived by his wife the former Reta Peck. A brother of: Anna Belle Folk, Grantsville, Md.; John W. Long, Berlin; Elsie Beachley, Berlin; and Helen wife of Robert Brant, Somerset. Specials: David and Mary Marker, Garrett Short Cut Rd.; Jeffrey and Carolann Marker, and their children, Matthew and Anne Marie, Frederick, Md.; Brian and Jill Marker and their children, Madeline and Samuel, Garrett Short Cut Rd. Simon owned and operated the Longview Farm in Brothersvalley Township. A member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren; National Holstein Association, North American Hunters Club; and African Safari Club. An avid sportsman having hunted in Canada, Africa, New Zealand, and numerous states. Friends will be received after 11 a.m. Sunday and Monday at the Price Funeral Home in Meyersdale. Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Emory Scholl, Rev. Joe Onder, and Rev. Marlin Miller officiating.
