"Bill" Long died June 12, 1998, in Glendale, Ariz. Born Jan. 3, 1917, in Meyersdale, son of the late James W. and Annie (Bowman) Long. Preceded in death by parents and brother Earl. Survived by his wife Helen (Jones) of 59 years; son Ronald of Glendale, Ariz.; daughters: Beverly Jean McLead, Gilbert, Ariz., and Carol Shorts Evans of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; sister, Myrtle L. Edmunds of Meyersdale; nephew, Franklin Edmunds Jr.; nieces, Janice E. Smith, Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Kay L. Kemp of Salisbury. He had six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Walter graduated from Meyersdale High School and Ashland College. Former resident of Ashland, Ohio, and was employed at Union Malleable for 30 years. He was a member of Ashland Masonic Lodge, F. and A.M. for 54 years; 67 R.A.M., Ashland Council 128, R.S.M. Past Patron of Ashland Chapter 92, Order of the Eastern Star. Memorial services were held June 15 with interment in Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale. Daily American, June 19, 1998 [L1299]
