Born Feb. 25, 1918, in Listie, son of Luther Clarence and Jessie Grace (Putman) Long. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Beulah Mae Brenneman, who died June 30, 1953; brothers, Clyde E., Lloyd P. and Dean S. Long; and sister, Carolyn I. Shaver. Survived by these children: James E. Long, married to the former Mary Ann Beeman, Garrett Shortcut, Berlin, and Miss Sandra A. Long, Confluence; grandchildren, Mrs. Ryan (Brenda) Maust, Listie; Mrs. James (Karen) Helmick, Listie and Mrs. Robert (Debra) Gudes, Tampa, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Michelle, Andrew and Jacob Maust and Emily, Elizabeth and Kristina Helmick. Brother of Hubert E. Long, Millers Creek, N.C. Member of Faith Lutheran Church; 1936 graduate of Somerset Township High School; electrician and plumber for Somerset Well Drilling, retiring in 1983. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday, at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Randall J. Marburger officiating.
