  Betty Louise Confer Curran Lorentz, 85, passed on Nov. 3, 2005, at The Patriot,
  Somerset. Born Jan. 28, 1920, in Natrona Heights, she is the daughter of the
  late Earl Wesley and Pearle (Schreckengost) Confer. She is preceded in death by
  parents; first husband, Joseph G. Curran in 1950; second husband, Robert Andrew
  Lorentz in 1987; sister, Roxie Aline Confer; brother, Dwight Ellsworth Confer;
  and sister-in-law Geraldine Confer. Survived by sons, William Robert Lorentz,
  Frederick, Md.; and James Wesley Lorentz, Chicago, Ill.; grandson Robert Claude
  Lorentz, Sterling, Va.; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Sue (Queer) Lorentz. She was
  employed as a secretary at the New Kensington Commercial School 1939 - 1956, St.
  Paul's United Church of Christ and Highland Manufacturing Co. 1964 - 1985. She
  did volunteer work for RSVP, the American Cancer Society, Somerset County
  Courthouse and hospice. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
  Friends will be received from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home,
  Somerset. Visitation from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Church of
  Christ, Somerset, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. The Rev. J. Matthew
  Deal officiating. Interment Husband Cemetery, Somerset. In lieu of flowers,
  memorial contributions may be made to OCWM (Our Church's Wider Mission), c/o
  St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 202 W. Union St., Somerset, PA 15501.
