Born Nov. 27, 1924, in Vindex, Md., a son of the late William Loughry and Nina (Knox) Loughry Pettit. Preceded in death by one brother, Samuel and two sisters, Helen and Geraldine and four beloved German shepherds. Surviving are his longtime friend, Donald O. Davis, Grantsville; one sister, Mildred Hastings, Taylor, Mich.; a half brother, Clark Pettit, Taylor, Mich., and a half sister, Dixie Pettit, San Diego, Calif. Loughry was the owner and operator of WFRB Radio Station from December 1958, until his retirement with the sale of the station in 1997. He started repairing radios in high school and this led to a lifetime in radio and electronics. He was a licensed engineer with the F.C.C. and a member of the National Association of Broadcasters and the Maryland/Delaware/DC Broadcasters Association. Mr. Loughry attended Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lonaconing, Md. and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Cumberland. Friends will be received on 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, Md., where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. George Loar officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Oakland, Md. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
