Lowery, 58, Baltimore and Ohio Railroad pipefitter and former caretaker of Rose Hill Cemetery for nineteen years, died at his home, 5 Marion Street, Cumberland, Tuesday morning after an illness of one week. Born in Meyersdale, Mr. Lowery was a member of Lodge No. 440, Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, for more than thirty years and held membership in the Sheetmetal Workers International Association. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lula Lowery; two sons, Lawrence V. and George E. Lowery, Jr.; two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Paxton and Mrs. Byron Kight, all of Cumberland; and two sisters, Mrs. Francis Harden, Cumberland; and Mrs. William Smith, Meyersdale. Two brothers, Harry Lowery, Cumberland, and Henry Lowery, Meyersdale, and four grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Kight Funeral Home, Cumberland. Rev. B. Ralph Mark, pastor of Central Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Meyersdale. Meyersdale Republican, May 9, 1946
