Lowry died in the Somerset Township State Hospital at 8:25 a.m. on Sunday, December 24th, of cardiac decomposition. He had a fall in his home several months ago and sustained a shoulder injury. Although he recovered to a certain extent from his accident, the strain on his heart was too severe, and contributed to his death. He was born on December 3, 1860, on the Lowry farm one mile east of Salisbury, son of George and Lucinda (Beachy) Lowry, and was aged 84 years and 20 days. His wife, Margaret (Smalley) Lowry, preceded him in death about 20 years ago. He is survived by one brother, William G. Lowry, residing on the home farm. Mr. Lowry was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. Funeral services were conducted in the funeral parlors of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26th, with Rev. George E. Bowersox, Jr., officiating. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, December 28, 1944
