Lowry, 79, Shanksville RD 2, died May 19, 1988, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Aug. 9, 1908, in Somerset Township, daughter of the late George Russell and Estella Elizabeth (Stoston) Barkman. Also preceded in death by a brother, George, and a sister, Leora. Survived by her husband, Milton H., and these children: Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Sarver, East McKeesport; Wayne, married to the former Audrey McClaren, Somerset RD 2; Lee, married to the former Carolyn Miller, State College; and foster daughter, Mrs. Carl (Nadine) Bumbarger, Somerset RD 3; also nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Sister of: Harold, Arizona; Robert, Baltimore, Md.; Edgar, Shanksville; Elsie Shuster, Friedens; Ruth Fisher, Somerset; and Victoria Walker, Berlin. Member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Shanksville. Her death ends a marriage of 58 years. She was a former school bus driver and LPN at Somerset Community Hospital and Maple Mountain Manor. She was a past president of the Shanksville Fire Department Auxiliary and the Somerset County Fire Department Auxiliary. Member of the Berlin Rebekah Lodge, Trinity Chapter of the O.E.S., Berlin American Legion Auxiliary #554, Farm Women, Silver and Gold Senior Citizens of Shanksville and was the volunteer nurse for the Girl Scout Camp. Friends received 7-9 p.m. Friday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Horst H. Bandle officiating.
