  LOWRY
  
  Mrs. Velma L. Lowry, 89, of Pochin Place, Hampton, Va., died Dec. 24,
  1981, at the James River Nursing Home, Hampton.  She was born Nov. 18,
  1891, in Hagerstown, Md., and was the daughter of the late Horace and
  Ida (Vin) Long.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John C.
  Lowry Jr.  Survived by these children: Rebecca, wife of C.T. Carwile,
  of Hampton, Va., and Mrs. Joan L. Carty of Spring City, Tenn.; eight
  grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.  Graveside services will be
  conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Husband Cemetery with the Rev. Carl
  Hull officiating under the direction of the Richard E. Hauger Funeral
  Home.
