Lowry, 85, of Berlin, formerly of Salisbury and Naples Fla., died Sept. 22, 2002 at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born Nov. 8, 1916 in Salisbury, he is the son of George and Mae (Lichliter) Lowry. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survived by a sister, Lucille Lichvar, Berlin; niece, Kay Ann married to William Cober, Berlin; two great-nieces, Elizabeth Cober Gillette and husband Joseph, Gaithersburg, Md., Christa Cober, Berlin; and two great-nephews, W. J. Cober, Richwood, W.Va. and Michael Livengood, State College. He was a retired administrator for Gulf Oil Corp. research dept. Graduate of Salisbury High School, class of 1935 and attended Catherman's Business School, Cumberland, and George Washington University, Washington D.C. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater with Special Services. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Salisbury, Meyersdale Lodge 554 F. & A.M., Meyersdale B.P.O.E. 1951, Salisbury VFW-Walker Harris Post 8826, Salisbury American Legion Earl H. Opel Post 459, and the Berlin Historical Society. He was an accomplished pianist and was a past member of the Cumberland Musicians Union. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, and from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Salisbury.
