Born Aug. 13, 1925, in Brownsville, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Kocis) Lucas. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Joseph Lucas and sister, Elizabeth Kelly. Survived by wife, the former Mina Geraldine Sczcygiel; daughters, Deborah Jones and husband, Paul, Glen Allen, Va.; Merrilee Lucas, Honolulu, Hawaii; Amy Chapman and husband, John, Bethesda, Md.; Margaret Lucas, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Jane Lucas and husband, Mark Stanke, Los Angeles, Calif.; and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Stephan, Stuart and Michael. Graduate of Brownsville High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a U.S. Navy Air Force veteran of World War II. Worked until his retirement as owner and operator of the former Foodland and Foodlane stores in Somerset with 50 years of service. Also a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Friends received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Funeral Mass will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset. The Monsignor Samuel J. Tomaselli, celebrant. Committal, Somerset County Memorial Park.
