Lucas, 74, of Rockwood, passed on June 26, 2003 at Somerset Hospital. Born June 2, 1929 in Shell, W.Va. he is the son of the late David and Eva (Brooks) Lucas. He is preceded in death by his brother, John Brooks. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Walker) Lucas, children: Janet, married to John Sanner of Jacksonville, Fla., James Lucas of Plano, Texas, Thomas, married to Penny, Lucas of Bakersville, Robin, married to John Dick of Cleveland, N.C. and Mark, married to Vanessa, Lucas of Rockwood; grandchildren, Johna, Rochelle, Chad, Jeremy, Jeremiah, Daniel, Debra, Shawn, Ashley, Richard and Mark and six great-grandchildren. He is the brother of Allen Lucas of Mobile, Ala. He was a retired railroad engineer for CSX with 47 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Pine Turn Rod and Gun Club, the American Legion Post 279 in Rockwood, the F.O.E. Aerie 1801 in Somerset and the United Transportation Union. He attended the Kingwood Church of God. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Rockwood, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev. James Monticue officiating. Interment at Rockwood IOOF Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Kingwood Church of God at 119 Humbert Road, Markleton Rd. 15551.
