Lucero, 66, Washington, D.C. formerly of RD 1 Hyndman, died December 28, 1983, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born in Kennells Mills Aug. 10, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Roy E. Kennell and Naomi (Emerick) Kennell. She was named "Miss Liberty of Cumberland" in 1944 and attended Catherman's Business School. She was formerly employed at the Amcelle plant of the Celanese Corporation and was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Washington. Surviving are her husband, Modesto Lucero, who is an international official with the Organization of American States; and 10 brothers and sisters. They are Stanley W. Kennell, Glen Burnie, Md.; John W. Kennell and Gerald M. Kennell, both of Hyndman RD; Mrs. Madeline M. Dom, Webersburg; Mrs. Emma R. Bittner, Mrs. Marybelle E. White, Mrs. Ruth Imler, Mrs. Alzene L. Sweitzer, Mrs. Marion E. Romesburg and Mrs. Frances F. Troutman, all of Hyndman RD 1. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home where services were conducted by the Rev. Robert Olewiler, who officiated at Mr. and Mrs. Modesto's wedding in 1960. Interment was in Comps Cemetery. The Republic, January 5, 1984 [L1426]
