Born Dec. 14, 1921, in Somerset Township, son of Ernest George Ludy Sr. and Pearl Rosalie (Adams) Ludy-Judy. Preceded in death by parents, step-father, Walter Judy, a sister, Dorothy Ludy. Survived by his wife, the former Virginia Gertrude Pile, to whom he was married for 52 years; daughter, Mrs. Ray C. (Cherry Kay) Beirer, Pittsburgh. Brother of: Harold R. Ludy, Mystic, Conn.; Mrs. Emily Madden, Renton, Wash.; Mrs. Cloyd (Ida Jane) Wirick, Westland, Mich.; Ernest G. "J.R." Ludy Jr., Somerset; Mrs. Edward (Virginia) Trent, Plymouth, Mich. Member of Somerset Alliance Church, V.F.W. Post 554, American Legion Post 257, Stoystown, and F.O.E. Aerie 1801 of Somerset. U.S. World War II naval veteran with the submarine division and was a railroad engineer for B&O and CSX, retiring in 1980 with 36 years service. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Walter Frankenberry officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Somerset Alliance Church, 708 Stoystown Road, Somerset, Pa.
