Born April 17, 1924, in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Charles Frank and Maggie Margaret (Mitchell) Lung. Preceded in death by his first wife, Eva Jane (Hampe) Lung, his second wife, Anna Nannie (Hampe) Lung, four sisters: Arminta Beal, Pearl Lung, Gladys Lung and Frances Minnick and a brother, Charles Lung. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Patton) Lung; a son, George Franklin Lung of Berlin; a grandson whom he raised, Barry Lung of Minnesota; a step-son, Randall Engle of Meyersdale; five daughters: Linda Streng, Bessie Margaret Lung and Nancy Jane Lung, all of Meyersdale, Gladys A. Wisseman of Salisbury and Deborah Pearl Judge of Olympia, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Karen House of Stoystown; two brothers: Harry Lung of Boynton and Albert Lung of Salisbury; four sisters: Mabel Tressler and Jean Lung, both of Meyersdale, Nellie Slayton and Elizabeth Meyers, both of Salisbury; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Lung was a member of the Cherry Grove Church of the Brethren and was retired road construction worker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Md., where services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Daniel J. Whitacre officiating. Interment, Salisbury Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by area veteran's service organizations.
