Lynch, 825 South Sparks St., State College, died at Riverside General Hospital, Seacaucus, New Jersey, August 29, 1983. He became ill en route to Penn State - Nebraska game, Meadowlands. He was born September 3, 1916, in Meyersdale, son of Richard William Lynch and Elizabeth (Mervine) Lynch. He was married to Mildred Tombler, who survives him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Martha and Melany; one son, Mark; and one granddaughter. He was a 1945 graduate of Penn State with a B.S. degree in animal husbandry and received his masters in rural sociology from Penn State in 1957. He retired in 1980 as associate professor of agriculture at Penn State after 35 years service. He was a coordinator of Extension Staff Development in the Cooperative Extension Service. He was active for many years in the Lion's Paw Alumni Association and was a founder of the Mount Nittany Conservancy, a non-profit organization incorporated two years ago. He was also instrumental in founding the College of Agriculture Alumni Society. In 1961, he served six months as extension adviser with the U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. State Department's Agricultural Mission to Israel. From 1965 through 1970 he was a project director of the summer Neighborhood Youth Corps project sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor to provide summer jobs for disadvantaged youth. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of State College. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Nittany Conservancy, 105 Old Main, Penn State University Park, PA 16802.
