Lyons, 89, Rockwood, died March 22, 1984, in Somerset Community Hospital. He was born Aug. 24, 1894, in Barronvale, son of Silas and Mary (Pletcher) Lyons. Survived by three sons: George, Canton, Ohio; Austin Jr., Rockwood; and Richard, Front Royal, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Nellie) Goller, Confluence RD 3; and Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Hostetler, Rockwood; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Florence (Fresh) Lyons, who died March 25, 1978; also by two brothers, Edward and Irvin; one sister, Mrs. Lucinda Gary. He was a World War I veteran, a member of the Veterans of World War I, Somerset Chapter, lifelong member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Rockwood. He was a retired carpenter of over 30 years and helped build Seven Springs Resort. He was a member of the Laurel Hill Sportsmens Club where he participated as an avid fisherman. Friends will be received in the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood, from 7-9 p.m. Friday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday where services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with his pastor James Roth officiating. Interment, Barron Lutheran Church Cemetery, Middle Creek Township. Daily American, March 23, 1984. [L1496]
