Born Feb. 3, 1933 in Gray, son of Carmelo and Josephine (Mattaliano) Magazzu. Preceded in death by parents, and sister, Nellie. Survived by daughter, Ginny Magazzu; and son, Carmelo Magazzu, both of Gray; grandchildren, Suzanne Magazzu and Robert Eller; and great-grandson, Brody Eller. Brother of Virginia, widow of Bruce Lottig Sr., Somerset Pike; and Joseph, married to Beverly Meyers, Phoenix. Also survived by loving companion, Violet Wilt, Lincoln Township, and her family, including her three children, Darlene Shaffer, Somerset; Linda Segrest, Stoystown; and Leroy Wilt, Somerset; 10 grandchildren; and nine Great-grandchildren. A 1952 graduate of the former JBJ High School. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Owner/operator of the former Magazzu's Tavern, near Gray. A member of the Jenner Rod & Gun Club, Somerset Post 554 VFW, Somerset Aerie 1801 FOE, Stoystown Post 257 American Legion, New Baltimore Sportsmen and the Geistown Country Club. Nin enjoyed playing poker with the boys. Viewing will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Monsignor Samuel J. Tomaselli officiating. Interment, Mount Carmel Cemetery, Jenner Crossroads. Military rites in charge of the Somerset County Honor Guard.
