"Pat" Magnone, 75, Central City, died Dec. 29, 1996, at Centre Community Hospital. Born Dec. 27, 1921, in Central City, the son of John and Grace (Spino) Magnone. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Joseph. Survived by wife, the former Sue (Beachy) Sipe. Beloved father of Susan E., wife of Daniel T. Dabbs, Central City; Camille M., wife of Commander (S) Richard D. Berkey, Virginia Beach, Va.; and Philip J., Orlando, Fla. Dear grandfather of Joshua Dabbs and Marisa Berkey. Brother of Clara, wife of Melvin Wilson, Central City; Caroline, wife of Joseph Nosel, Michigan; Elizabeth, widow of the late Joseph Nagy, West Virginia, and Elaine, wife of Pete Sobeck, Michigan. Also survived by sister-in-law, Clara (Coker) Magnone, Virginia, and a number of nieces and nephews. 1940 graduate of Shade High School, where he taught Industrial Arts for 32 years. Received B.S. from California University of Pennsylvania. Did graduate work at UPJ, and the University of Tennessee in Johnson City. Lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Member of Parish Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus, Council 9109, PSEA, NEA, Retired Public School Employee's Association and TPA. Pat served for many years on the Central City Water Authority and borough council. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a life member of American Legion Post 449 and VFW Post 7457, where he served 22 years as commander, and the past 18 years as secretary. Past commander of the Somerset County and District 23, VFW. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City, where brief service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, followed at 11 a.m. by Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Rev. Msgr. I.C. Wadas. Interment, parish cemetery. Graveside military rites by Central City VFW and American Legion posts. Holy Name Society and local Knights Council will recite the Rosary at 6:30 p.m., and a Vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. both Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
