Born Oct. 12, 1921, in Allegheny Township, Somerset County. Son of the late William and Louise (Reschke) Malas. Also preceded in death by wife, Elnora Katherine (Greeley) Rorata-Malas; son, David W. Malas, Centerville, Ohio, and daughter, Mrs. Yvonne M. Yachovite, Windber; a number of stepchildren, including four that he raised: James A. Naughton, Somerset RD 7, and Mrs. Patricia E. Kruger, Ms. Sandra M. Clark and John J. Naughton, all of Sanford, Fla. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and 20 step-great-grandchildren. Brother of Reinhold Malas, Somerset RD 3; Mrs. Lydia Ringeisen, Berlin; Leonard F. Malas, Buffalo Mills RD 1. He had owned Malas Cemetery Finishing Contractors of Windber until his retirement in 1981. Veteran of U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. Member of Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown VFW Post 554 of Somerset. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Hauger-Ziegler Funeral Home, Somerset. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. Edward N. Cornielson officiating. Interment, St. Thomas Lutheran Cemetery, Hooversville RD 1. No viewing at the church. Contributions may be made to Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown, Pa. 15547. Graveside military rites will be accorded by VFW Post 7295 of Berlin.
