Malas, 83, formerly of Buffalo Mills, died Feb. 27, 2005, at Marshall Manor Assisted Living, Marshall, Va. Born Dec. 27, 1921, in Hyndman, she is a daughter of the late John L. and Eva Pearl (Sherman) Lehman. She is also preceded in death by Leonard F. Malas, her husband of 55 years, in 2001; and by brothers, Reuel and Regis Lehman, and sisters, Vera Wills- Schmidt, Gloria Kinton, Ilga Albritton, Lillian Lehman, Lois Lehman and Dale Shuck. Surviving are sons, Dr. Kenneth Malas, Moab, Utah, and Frederick Malas and wife Doris (Miller), Buffalo Mills; daughters, Joanna Barefoot and husband Galen, Warrenton, Va., and Kathleen Fisher and husband Jeffery, Fairhope; brother, Sherman Lehman, Buffalo Mills; sisters, Twila Black, Kittanning; Faye May and husband Howard, Buffalo Mills, and Anna Waltman and husband John, Bedford; sister-in-law, Helen (Johnston) Lehman, Bedford; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Malas is a graduate of Hyndman High School. She was a former Juniata Township (Bedford County), tax collector. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Glen Savage, where she was the long time church and cemetery secretary. A funeral service, under the management of the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Friends will be received for 90 minutes immediately prior to the service. The Rev. Richard Nelson and the Rev. Paul. Yankey officiating. Interment will in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Hope Lutheran Church, 10319 Sudley Manor Drive, Manassas, VA 20109.
