MALONEY Sudden Death of Mine Foreman Thomas D. Maloney GARRETT, Jan. 26 - The sudden death of Thomas D. Maloney, foreman of the Merrills' Enterprise Mines near Garrett at his home in Garrett, last Thursday morning, Jan. 20, due to a heart attack, came as a shock to this community. He was not only a very efficient mine foreman but also a highly respected citizen. He worked as usual all day Wednesday, and apparently was well as usual when he retired for the night. He was a native of Pennsylvania and was 62 years old when stricken. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean Miller Maloney, Garrett, and four sons, all serving in the armed forces of the United States, namely: Pvt. Clifford L. Maloney, formerly of Johnstown, now stationed at San Francisco, Cal.; Pvt. Robert J. Maloney, formerly of Johnstown, now at New Cumberland, Pa.; Chief Petty Officer J. C. Maloney, USN, formerly of Mare Island Navy Yard, California, now at Camp Perry, Virginia; and Pvt. Thomas D. Maloney, formerly of Philadelphia, now at Fort Bliss, Texas. A daughter, Lucille, died eleven years ago. Surviving Mr. Maloney, also, are six grandchildren. Mr. Maloney was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Funeral services were conducted in SS. Philip and James Church, Meyersdale, Monday morning at 9:30, with requiem high mass celebrated by Rev. Father Houston, after which Mr. Maloney's body was taken to Johnstown for interment in Grandview Cemetery, under the direction of Johnson & Son, Berlin morticians.
