Born Sept. 29, 1927 in Cairnbrook, son of Archie and Anna (Small) Manges. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert and Harold Manges. Survived by his wife, Maxine (Shortt) Manges of Rolling Prairie, Ind.; daughter, Susan Kessler, South Bend, Ind.; sons, David Manges of LaPorte, Ind., and Keith Manges, Canton, Ga.; foster daughter, Mary Frey, Lake in the Hills, Ill.; sisters, Dorothy Huston, Central City, Jean Leonard, Milford, Del., and Norma Wilson, Walkerton, Ind.; and 12 grandchildren. Retired in 1981 after 33 years at Allis Chalmers for automotive repair. He also worked at Dietrich Drilling. Dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church of LaPorte. A world War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. Charter member of the VFW of Rolling Prairie, Ind., Post 9423. Boy Scout master of Troop 353 for 19 years. Visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Haverstock Funeral Home, and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of service at 11 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, LaPorte. Rev. Noel Olse officiating. Interment, Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie, Ind. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church of LaPorte Building Fund, 907 Michigan Ave., LaPorte, Ind., 46350.
