The services were conducted by Rev. George A. Fallon, pastor of the First Methodist Church, of which Mr. Mankamyer became an active member a short while ago, he having formerly been a member of the Evangelical Church. Rev. Fallon paid the deceased brother a beautiful tribute in keeping with the splendid life he had led. The pall-bearers were members of the Meyersdale Citizens Band of which Mr. Mankamyer had been a member for 34 years. Interment was in Union Cemetery under direction of Undertaker J. L. Tressler. There were many beautiful floral tributes and a very large concourse of mourning relatives and friends followed the remains to their last resting place. Henry Mankamyer was born in Summit Township, a son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Christian Mankamyer, of saintly memory, Rev. Mankamyer having been a minister of the Evangelical Church for many years and noted for his piety and godly life. The family moved from Summit to Larimer Township when Henry was a lad, most of the early years of his life having been spent in the neighborhood of the White Oak churches. He married a daughter of the late Emanuel Johnson and about 25 years ago moved back to Summit Township, establishing his home on the Sand Patch road near Meyersdale, where he resided the remainder of his life. He was aged 59 years, 4 months and 7 days when his life was so tragically ended. He is survived by his wife and these children: Mrs. Vincent Beaver, of Akron, O.; Mrs. Charles Sperry, of Glade City; Lester Mankamyer, of Meyersdale, and Miss Edna Mankamyer, at home. He is also survived by these brothers and sisters: Richard and Lewis of Larimer Township; Joseph, Meyersdale; John, a patient in the County Hospital; Christian, on the old home farm, near White Oak; Mrs. Albert Bittner, Somerset Township, and Mrs. John Fair, Larimer Township. Another sister, Mrs. Charles Bittner, the youngest of the family, passed away on April 10th. Mr. Mankamyer was a carpenter and building contractor, noted for the excellence and honesty of his work, and the reasonableness of his prices. He was a man whom everybody trusted and respected. He was musically inclined and was one of the best cornetists in the county, and was a clever performer in amateur entertainments and musicales. His death is a great loss to his family and the community. Meyersdale Republican, May 22, 1930
