Mankamyer, 81, Meyersdale, died Aug. 18, 1984, in Meyersdale Community Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 14, 1902, in Meyersdale, a son of the later Henry and Viola (Johnson) Mankamyer. Also preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle. Survived by his wife, the former Esther R. Brown; and these children: Betty, wife of Frank J. Mosgraves, Somerset RD 5; Nancy, wife of Robert C. Baldwin, Meyersdale RD 3; and Donald H., San Jose, Calif.; also 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Brother of: Edna Mankamyer and Ruth Forespring, both of Berlin RD 3. Also survived by a nephew, Bernard Sperry, Berlin RD 3. He was a member of the Amity United Church of Christ, Meyersdale, also a member of the former Meyersdale Community Band and Orchestra. He was a carpenter by trade and spent his early years working with his father constructing many barns in the area and building some of the buildings at the Meyersdale Fairgrounds. He spent his later years working for the Merrills Ponfeigh Coal Co., before he retired. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Carl P. Mitchell Jr. officiating.
