Born Jan. 24, 1916 in Pittsburgh, a son of Louis and Mary (OiKonski) Maranowski. Preceded in death by his parents, grandson Kevin R. Glessner and two infant sisters. Survived by his wife, the former Verna Bertha Vogel, to whom he was married for 63 years; children, Mrs. Larry R. (Joanne) Glessner of Somerset, William L. Maranowski, married to the former Sally Bence of Somerset, and Mrs. Barry L. (Linda) Phillips of Somerset; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 17 great-grand-children; six step great-grand-children; brothers, Chester Maranowski and wife, Selma of Mars, Joseph Maranowski and wife, Gertrude of Pittsburgh; and sister Mrs. Anna Mae Williams, widow of Robert of Butler. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. He had opened and managed the former Goss Gas of Somerset from 1949 to 1963. He was a partner in the former Somerset Chrysler-Plymouth from 1964 to 1965. Retired co-owner and operator with his wife of Roof Garden Market of Somerset from 1965 to 1979. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Robert L. Hoover Jr. officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
