She was born April 1, 1915, in St. Michael, the daughter of Ezra Pope Dickinson and Leonore Richardson Dickinson. She was the loving wife of 65 years to John Morgan Mardis. She is survived by her daughter, Lenore "Muffet" McClintock and son-in-law, Scott Lee McClintock, Somerset; grandchildren, Leslie McClintock, Oakton, Va.; Ian McClintock and his fiancˇe, Brooke Glessner, Washington, D.C.; brother and sister-in law, Frank and Mary Edith Mardis, Johnstown. She touched and loved her nieces, Mary Edith Mardis, Ann Mardis, Carol Glock Seving, Adrienne Glock Saks, Patty Adair; nephew, Wally Sell; and dear friend, Chad Mosholder. She was an inspirational godmother to Brenda Hutchinson Griffith, Debra Hutchinson Echler and Barbara Francis Vanyo, and known as "Mommy" to many special friends. Lenore attended the Castle School in Tarrytown, N.Y., where she studied theater and dance, she later attended the Semple School and the Fashion Academy, both in New York City. Her many skills were put to work at the amateur Little Theater in Cresson and the Mountain Playhouse in the mid 1930s. After World War II, she and her husband moved to Somerset, where, for 50 years, they owned and operated Mardis Ford Lincoln Mercury Inc. Lenore was active in the community as past president of the Welfare League. She was a member of the St. Paul's Presbyterian Church. Lenore was happiest on the golf course, playing bridge with the "Bridge Club," walking a dog on the beach or sailing the high seas with Captain John. Our Lenore will long be remembered for her convivial nature. She was witty, kind and quite intelligent, she wrapped her arms around those of us she loved. She will be in our hearts forever. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. June 7 at Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to In Touch Hospice, 233 Pleasant Ave., Somerset, PA 15501. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Somerset.
