All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ JOHN MARKER John Marker, prominent retired farmer of Black Township, passed peacefully away at his home, Saturday morning, June 28, 1941, at 10 o'clock following a short illness of pneumonia He was born January 15, 1876, the son of Jacob and Sara Meyers Marker, both deceased. In 1893 he was united in holy matrimony to Emma Mankamyer. To this union four children were born, three of whom survive, Mrs. Daniel Critchfield, Meyersdale, Ira M., Boswell and George E., Rockwood. Also surviving are these sisters and brothers: L. M. Marker, El Paso, Texas; Mrs. Francis Snyder, Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Wilson Landis, Shanksville; Mrs. Sara Hay, Mrs. J. R. Miller, and Dennis Marker, all of Rockwood. Nine grandchildren and one great- grandchild also survive. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, having been born, reared and lived his entire life in Rockwood. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a kind neighbor and a faithful member of the Rockwood Church of the Brethren. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 from that church by the pastor, W. F. Berkebile. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, under the direction of Mills & Mickey, Rockwood morticians. Meyersdale Republican, July 10, 1941
