  John J. Marone, 53, Ottawa, Ohio, formerly of Hollsopple, died Aug. 14, 2005,
  at home after a battle with cancer. Born Feb. 20, 1952, in Johnstown, son of
  Vito and Verna (Urban) Marone. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by wife,
  the former Barbara Zona, whom he married April 18, 1977; children, Christopher
  Zona, Ovid, N.Y.; Lynn Zona, Riverside, Calif.; and Lisa Marone, Findlay, Ohio;
  three grandchildren, Jory, Aryanna and Lilyanna Zona; beloved sister, Rosemary,
  wife of John Ryan; nephew, Jim Ryan, married to the former Heidi Bowman,
  Hooversville; brother, Frank Gironda, married to the former Cheryl Case, White
  Oak; nephew, Eric Gironda, married to Cindy; niece, Erin Gironda; and nephew,
  Ryan Gironda, all of White Oak. Supervisor for Phillips Display Components,
  Ottawa, Ohio. He is an Army veteran. A 1970 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area
  High School. He was an outstanding athlete. He received the Leading Pitcher
  Award for Somerset County, 1968. Co-captain of the 1969 Mountain Conference
  Champions. Member of the Second Team All Star 1969 Somerset County Team. He
  pitched his team to victory in AAABA tournament in Johnstown. He attended
  Indiana University. Family receiving friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
  George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc., Davidsville. Funeral Mass will be held at 10
  a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Hooversville. The Rev. Harold Biller
  officiating. Interment, St. Anne's Cemetery. Military graveside service by
  Menoher Post 155.
