ELIZABETH FIKE MARTEENY

  Mrs. Elizabeth Fike Marteeny, aged 86 years, died Monday afternoon at two 
o'clock, July 1, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Howard 
Speicher.  She was born in Elk Lick Township, July 24, 1853, the daughter of 
Elias and Fanny (Saylor) Fike.
  Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Fannie Saylor, Mrs. Ada Fike, both of 
Meyersdale, and Mrs. Annie Speicher, of Meyersdale, Route 2; one son, Elias, of 
Meyersdale; two sisters, Miss Annie Fike and Mrs. Frank Boyd.  Eleven 
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.  She was preceded in 
death by her husband, Simon, and one son, Norman Marteeny.
  A short service was held this Thursday afternoon at one o'clock at the 
Speicher home, followed by a service at 1:45 in the Church of the Brethren, Rev. 
DeWitt L. Miller, pastor, officiating.  Interment followed in the Union Cemetery 
under the direction of H. R. Konhaus, local mortician.
