  MARTIN
  
    John K. Martin Sr. 74, of Friedens, formerly of Vinco and
  Nanty-Glo, died April 16, 2001 at Select Specialty Hospital,
  Johnstown.  Born Feb. 2, 1927 in Summerhill.  Son of Daniel D. and
  Bessie (Underline) Martin.  Preceded in death by parents, brother
  Alex, and sister Phyllis Owatt.  Survived by his wife of 54 years the
  former Shirley Evans, and these children: John K. Jr. of Nanty-Glo,
  Sandra K. Reese and Gregory K. both of Silver Spring, Md., and Paul
  A. of Mineral Point.  Nine grandchildren and nine
  great-grandchildren.  Brother of Leo of Nanty-Glo, Lorraine Sokal of
  Stevensville, Md., and Sara Jane Martin of Johnstown.  World War II
  Navy veteran.  Retired supervisor for Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown. 
  Member of Friedens Lutheran Church.  Family will receive friends from
  2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown.  No
  viewing at John's request.  Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m.
  Wednesday at Friedens Lutheran Church.  Rev. Edward V. DeVore
  officiating.  Instead of flowers contributions may be given to
  Friedens Lutheran Church, Friedens, Pa. 15541.
