  MASH
  
  Samuel E. Mash, 87, East Third Street, Gray, died Jan. 12, 2003 at
  Somerset Hospital.  Born March 29, 1915, in Colver, son of Tarquinio
  and Louise (Mazzaferri) Mash.  Preceded in death by parents;
  daughter, Barbara A. Fatula; grandson, Robert Fatula; sisters, Sophia
  Dorcy and Lena Yancey; and brothers, Joseph and Avel Mash.  Survived
  by wife, former Julia M. Wozniak; son Edward S. married to former
  Carolyn L. Temple, Charleston, W.Va.; daughter, Jeanne L., married to
  Robert A. Bowlby, Somerset; grandchildren Joey, Jason and Michael
  Fatula; Jennifer and Ryan Bowlby; Heather Nellis; and Erik, Stefan
  and Sara Mash; and great-grandchildren Jake Fatula, Brandy Nellis and
  Ethan Mash.  Brother of Geraldine, married to Jack Spears, Missouri;
  John, married to former Grace Foust, Windber and Julius married to
  former Betty Kimack, Vintondale, also survived by special nieces
  Linda and Connie Wozniak.  He was a coal miner for 51 years, having
  worked for various mines in Somerset and Cambria Counties.  He
  retired as a foreman from former Jandy Coal Co., Windber.  He
  observed his 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 23, 2002.  Member of
  All Saints Catholic Parish; UMWA, Somerset Sportsmen and Jenner Rod &
  Gun Club.  Honorary member of Knights of Columbus.  He was an avid
  hunter and wood worker.  Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
  Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where vigil
  for the deceased will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday.  Funeral Mass will
  be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Chapel, Acosta, the Rev.
  Father Justin A. Ratajczak OFM Conv. and Sam's nephew, Father Wesley
  Mash, co-celebrants.  Interment, Husband Cemetery, Somerset.  In lieu
  of flowers, donations in Sam's name may be sent to American Cancer
  Society, 168 W. Union St., Somerset, Pa. 15501.
