Born May 1, 1924, in Hollsopple, son of the late Nicholas and Anastasia (Maslak) Maslak. Preceded in death by three sisters, and a brother. Survived by wife of 38 years the former Mary Joan Chuba, two sons: George married to the former Peggy Herring of Somerset, John Joseph Maslak of Indian Lake, a grandson, and a granddaughter. Brothers: John Maslak of New Jersey, and Andrew Maslak of Chicago, and sisters: Anna Oranchak, and Nettie Garleskay both of Hollsopple. Member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Somerset. Graduate of Slippery Rock University. Attained a masters degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Retired teacher, and coach from Somerset Area schools. Coached football 38 years, wrestling 18 years, baseball 12 years and soccer three years, a little league umpire, and broadcaster of sports events over WVSC radio of Somerset. A CPO in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Member of the Somerset American Legion, VFW, Laurel Ridge Sportsman's Association. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church 10 a.m. Thursday, Monsignor Samuel Tomaselli. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association National Office, 50 Court St., 306 A, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11201-4801. Wake service 8:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
